Myopia Awareness Week: How the Condition is Increasingly Affecting Young People

It’s Myopia Awareness Week – a global reminder of the growing short-sightedness epidemic. With half the world expected to be myopic by 2050, early detection and management are more important than ever.

Children are increasingly being born myopic, unfortunately meaning that they become at higher risk of developing serious eye diseases later in life. These conditions can be those such as:

- Retinal detachment

- Macular degeneration

- Glaucoma

- Cataracts

Myopia can affect the quality of life, at any age, meaning early detection and condition management are more important than ever.
