INTERVIEW TIPS

So you've been invited to interview with your dream company. Your current job is not hitting the spot. You're keen to make a great first impression at the interview and land your ideal job. Here are our top tips to make the first interview count from the off:

1. Don't underestimate the importance of preparation

What's the common phrase "poor preparation leads to poor performance"

Research the company to gather information on the organisation and the role you're interviewing for. This will allow you to answer questions confidential and show your genuine interest.

2. Make a great visual first impression

Yes, they count! Dressing appropriately for an interview not only shows you're prepared but also allows you to feel more comfortable during the interview.

3. Be on time

Surely this goes without saying? If it's virtual, ensure your zoom / teams / google links are all ready to go as soon as the interview starts, tech failures are a bad start.

4. Read the Job Description

As part of your prep, get stuck into the JD to ensure you understand the role you're interviewing for and what the key responsibilities include. This will help you to highlight your relevant experience and skills.

5. Received a brief?

The company many have sent over a pre-interview brief which could include an interview presentation or just an agenda. Make sure your conversation is on-brief. If they're expecting a presentation from you - deliver on that!

6. Listen actively & ask questions

Pay attention to the interviewer and show your engagement through making eye contact and asking questions.

By following these tips, you can set yourself up for a successful interview and make a positive first impression on the interviewer.
