👀 [SpaMedica](https://www.linkedin.com/company/spamedica-clinic/), a leading NHS eye patient service provider, has partnered with [Vision Express](https://www.linkedin.com/company/visionexpress/) to offer pre-registration training placements for 150 aspiring optometrists. This collaboration aims to provide comprehensive training in both community and hospital settings, addressing the challenges of securing hospital placements for pre-registration optometrists.

The training programme will be conducted across SpaMedica's nationwide network of hospitals. Trainees will have the opportunity to:
👁️ Shadow Clinical Teams: Observe and assist in treating patients with various eye conditions, including cataracts and wet age-related macular degeneration.
👁️ Participate in Procedures: Gain exposure to surgeries such as cataract removal and vitreo-retinal operations.
👁️ Engage in Virtual Clinics: Attend virtual patient consultations to enhance diagnostic and communication skills.
Each placement lasts two and a half days, offering a balanced mix of practical experience and theoretical learning.

👏 SpaMedica's hospitals have been rated as "Good" or "Outstanding" by the Care Quality Commission, with 98% of patients giving a five-star rating on the NHS website. This partnership with Vision Express and The College of Optometrists ensures that pre-registration optometrists receive high-quality training and supervision, meeting many competencies outlined in the Scheme for Registration.

📈 By collaborating with Vision Express, SpaMedica is enhancing access to professional development and training opportunities for future optometrists, ultimately contributing to improved patient care across the UK.
