💲A recent article from the Association of Optometrists (AOP) highlights the growing financial strain faced by independent optometry practices. Rising operational costs, inflation, and declining reimbursement rates are creating a challenging landscape for optometrists trying to maintain high-quality patient care.

👁 Dr. Sajjad Mahmood, owner of a practice in Manchester, shares his first hand experience, noting how these pressures are forcing practices like his to make difficult decisions. From balancing competitive pricing to retaining skilled staff, independents are feeling the squeeze more than ever.

👀 The article emphasizes the need for systemic support, including better government funding and policy adjustments, to help independent practices survive and thrive. Without intervention, many practices risk closure, which could significantly impact local communities relying on accessible eye care services.
